As reported earlier, Apple has sent out media invites for the iPhone 5 event on October 4. The big question is now, how long will it take until Apple is selling the iPhone 5 after the event. TNW guesses that the iPhone 5 goes on sale on October 14 and the iOS 5 release is two days earlier on October 12.
The base these date on what they heard from a reliable source. October 14 is a Friday. This is not unusual. If true, then expect the first people to line up basically right after Apple makes the announcement on October 4.
The rumored October 14 release date is supported by a report by AppleInsider that Apple has blocked vacation days on the weekend of October 14.
Apple is very likely releasing iOS 5 ahead of the new iPhone devices. I like these dates, let's see if they hold up.
