Amazon unveiled three new Kindle products today. The new $199 Kindle Fire Tablet, $99 Kindle Touch eReader and a new low-cost Kindle. The $79 Kindle is selling right away. You can buy it now on Amazon.com for $79.
Amazon dropped the keyboard from the Kindle and made it 30% lighter and 18% smaller. The $79 Kindle can store 1,800 books and the battery holds 3 weeks. It connect via Wi-fi to the net to get new books.
Amazon actually keeps the current Kindle in the program. They renamed it to Kindle Keyboard. For most users the keyboard is not necessary. After all the Kindle is an eReader not an eWriter.
At the price of $79, the Amazon Kindle has become almost a stocking stuffer for Christmas 2011.
