The string of Applerumors is never ending. The iPhone 4S has just launched and the iPad 2 hasn’t been on the market all that long yet. Still, the rumors on the iPad 3 are swirling already. We have previously heard that the new iPad 3 will get a higher resolution retina LCD panel. We have also already heard that the production of the iPad 3 is behind schedule.
The rumored launch zone for the iPad 3 is said by some sources to be Q3 2012. That would match well with the launch of the iPad 2. To support the new higher resolution screen, the iPad 3 will need a better LED backlight solution. DigiTimes cites sources in the backlight industry as claiming that Apple is looking at two different solutions for the iPad 3 at this time.
One of the solutions is a single bar LED backlight with dual LED chips onboard. The other backlight solution is said to be a dual light bar solution. The sources claim that Apple is leaning towards the dual bar backlight due to the more uniform brightness. The new dual bar solution is said to be more power efficient than older solutions as well.

About the Geek Mind
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
