Honda has been showing off its ASIMO robots for a long time now. The bot doesn't do all that much other than walk around and a few other things. Honda has a new version of the robot that has some significant advances. The latest version of the bot has the world's first autonomous behavior controls.
The new ASIMO can now move around without having an operator control it. The bot also has improved intelligence and the ability to adapt physically to new situations. Honda says that with the new bot it has gone from an automatic machine to an autonomous machine. The advanced intelligence uses new sensors that replicate the senses of a human.
The new physical capability comes thanks to an expanded range of leg movements and a new control technology that allows the bot to change positions in the middle of motion. The robot also has improved task-performing capability with new tactile and force sensors in the palm and fingers.
