NVIDIA finally releases the fabled Quad-Core Tegra 3 (Kal-El ) CPU. NVIDIA says that Tegra 3 brings PC-Class performance levels, better battery life to tablets and mobile phones. The world's first quad-core tablet with the Tegra 3 processor is the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
Known previously by the codename "Project Kal-El," the Tegra 3 processor provides up to 3x the graphics performance of Tegra 2, and up to 61 percent lower power consumption. This translates into an industry-leading 12 hours of battery life for HD video playback.
It looks to me that Asus is the most successful Android Tablet maker so far. Their Transformer series caught on. The idea of being able to stick a keyboard onto a Transformer Tablet to make it a laptop is resonating with consumers. The new Asus Transformer Prime should therefore sell like hot cakes.
Features of Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime include besides the Tegra 3 CPU, 10.1-inch LED Backlit display with Super IPS+ (1,280x800px), 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, 18 hour battery life, 1GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, Wi-Fi, G-Sensor, Light Sensor, Gyroscope, E-compass, GPS, and Android 3.2 (upgradable to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Measurements of the Asus Transformer Prime are 263x180.8x8.3mm (tablet) and 263x180.8x10.4mm (keyboard). The Asus Transformer Prime tablet is actually 0.5mm thinner than the Apple iPad 2. When docking the keyboard you get a thin laptop with a height of 18.7mm. The weight of the Transformer Pad is 586g and the keybard weighs 537g.
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime starts at $499 for the 32GB Transformer Prime. The 64GB Tranformer Prime will retail for $599. The mobile dock keyboard will sell for $149. The release of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is still supposed to ship this year. It is not clear yet if Asus manages to ship them in time for the Holidays. We will keep an eye on that in our Holiday Gift Guide, as the Asus Transformer Prime is officially now the best Android Tablet you can get. Forget all Tegra 2 HoneyComb Tablets, prices will start to complete collapse now in Black Friday Tablet Sales.

The biggest plus here is the tablet availability. Other on-demand streaming apps (hello HBOGo) are a little late with the tablet support, but Xfinity says it's compatible with any Android device running 2.3 or higher, and we've verified it works on the ...
