Supply Chain report says that components for a new ultra-thin 15-inch MacBook start to ship.
Apple is rumored to release a new ultra-thin 15-inch MacBook at some point. It is not clear yet if the new 15-inch Apple laptop would belong to the MacBook Air line or if Apple is going to slim down the MacBook Pro line with a redesign.
Digitimes reports that the components for a new ultra-thin 15-inch MacBook have started to ship in volume. They estimate that the new 15-inch MacBook would launch in Q2 of 2012. Digitimes expect that the new ultra-thin 15-inch Macbook has no optical drive, which would put it more into the MacBook Air line.
The MacBook Air has proven to be a runaway success for Apple. AppleInsider just reported that according to NPD sales figures the MacBook Air accounts for 28% of all Apple laptop shipments.
