Casio and Verizon Wireless have announced the launch of a new rugged smartphone for people that are rough on devices and field workers. The new smartphone is called the Casio G'zOne Ravine 2 and it is a ruggedized flip phone that is compact and durable and will work in multiple countries around the world. The device has seven different operation modes for active users for outdoors and more.
It is rugged enough that dust isn't an issue and it can survive being caught in the rain as well. It has an 810G rating for water, shock and dust protection as well as fog, salt and humidity. It is global ready and has push to talk capability. In addition, has the Opera mini browser onboard to surf the web.
Other features include full messaging capability, VZ Navigator, and support for up to 32GB microSD cards. The phone has Bluetooth and a 3.2MP rear camera that can record video as well. The headset port is an odd size 2.5mm unit ruling out most headphones or earbuds you already have. The device will land November 17 in Verizon stores for $149.99 after a $50 MIR and a new 2-year agreement.
