The United States is still the wonderland for consumer electronics. A Blu-ray player deal in the UK is making big waves today, that would just get a disgusted look from consumers in the United States. The Daily Mail reports that ASDA sells own brand ONN Blu-ray player now for £40. This is about $63. The ASDA ONN DS-BD52 is a basic Blu-ray player with no Internet services. It has an Ethernet port, but ASDA does not specify what you can do with it.
Update 11/18/11:
The ASDA ONN DS-BD52 is sold out online right now at ASDA. Shop the bestselling Blu-ray Players on Amazon featuring the £64.99 Panasonic DMP-BD75EB-K Blu-ray player as #1 bestseller. I would spend the extra £25 to get this brandname Blu-ray player instead of the above bargain noname blu-ray player.
Right US consumers can go to Walmart and get the Toshiba BDX2150 with Netfix and other streaming video service support for $75. On Black Friday next week, the Toshiba BDX2150 will sell for only $39 in the Best Buy Black Friday Sale. Now that is a deal to get excited about.
I guess it is time for British gadget fans to hop on plane to shop the US Black Friday next week. As reported Amazon will bring Black Friday to the UK next week. If the deals will be exciting remains to be seen.
