I have been saying for a while now that one of the best tablets to launch this year will probably be the Asus Transformer prime. This is a very nice tablet with a very thin profile and quad-core Tegra 3 power under the hood. Add in the fact that you can get a keyboard dock that turns it into a notebook and extends the battery life and it’s a very sweet package.
The tip that December 8 is the official US launch date was offered to NetbookNews directly from Asus. That launch date had been tipped via pre-order pages in the past so it was no real surprise really. The tablet is very cool.
The downside to having nice specs is that the tablet is not cheap. The lowest price version of the tablet is $499 and the higher capacity version is $599 according to listings so far. The keyboard accessory is another $150-$199.
The Asus Transformer Prime was already available for pre-order on Amazon. The option got removed for now. Check if it is back on Amazon.com.
