Mophie has announced a recall on all of the 6,118 units of the Juice Pack Air for the fourth generation iPod touch. Apparently, all of the other Juice Pack varieties for the iPhone and other devices are good. The recall is issued before of a faulty IC switch that can cause overheating and possible fire or burn hazard.
There have apparently been 110 reports of the case becoming hot to the touch and 44 instances where the battery case deformed from heat. There have also been nine reports of minor burns to users from the issue. Best Buy also has a much larger issues with 32,000 battery cases that it sold under its Rocketfish name have been recalled that were made for the iPhone 3G/3GS.
This accessory is prone to overheat during charging and is designated a fire hazard and three users have reported being burned. There have also been four cases with property damage out of 14 reported cases of problems. Juice Pack Air owners will get a new case. Best Buy is offering a $70 US gift card for sending the case back.
