The NFL announced that no other than Madonna will perform the Super Bowl 2012 halftime show. The Super Bowl XLVI is taking place in Indianapolis on February 5, 2012. NBC is broadcasting the Super Bowl 2012. The Bridgestone sponsored Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched music event of the year. Over 162 million watched the Super Bowl halftime show last year that featured the Black Eyed Peas.
The choice of Madonna is somewhat controversial as it is again a pop act. Madonna follows halftime acts including The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.
Madonna's performance will be imagined by Cirque du Soleil, Jamie King and multimedia artists from Moment Factory. The timing for Madonna's Super Bowl halftime appearance is perfect as she will release a new album in 2012 and her new movie W.E. will open in cinemas two days before the Super Bowl 2012.
Bridgestone is sponsoring the Super Bowl halftime the fifth year in a row. Bridgestone will of course run Super Bowl commercials again at the Super Bowl 2012. The new Bridgestone campaign is titled "Time to Perform."
The Super Bowl 2012 is taking place in Indianapolis on February 5th, 2012. Just like last year, I4U News will be featuring again the Super Bowl for Geeks Guide. Of course the Super Bowl 2011 for Geeks Guide will be all about the Super Bowl Commercials and not the game. For even more Super Bowl 2012 Ads coverage visit our new Super Bowl Ads Blog.
