Of all the strange things that have sold at auction, the purchase price paid for the documents from the founding of Apple Computer have fetched a huge amount of money. The documents are those that Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne signed in 1976 to form Apple.
The documents were put on auction recently and were expected to sell for about $150,000. That expectation was well under the final price of nearly ten times what was expected. A bidder named Eduardo Cisneros, CEO of Cisneros Corp won the auction with a bid of $1,594,500. He later tweeted that he had purchased a piece of history.
The document collection includes what may be the most infamous of all tech related documents. It included the document when Wayne made the ultimate bad business decision of selling off his 10% stake in Apple for only $800. Those holdings today would be worth billions.
