The browser wars had been at a bit of a stalemate for a long time with Internet Explorer in first, Firefox in second, and Chrome bringing up third place. That all changed last month when Chrome booted Firefox out of the second place spot. This month Chrome has gained even more.
For the first time in years, Internet Explorer isn't the most popular browser according to StatCounter. Chrome has taken the top spot from IE. StatCoutner says the data starting on the week of November 21 puts Chrome in the lead.
In the last three weeks of November and the first week of December Chrome was 24% of the global browser market, IE had 22.9%, and Firefox 8 had 10.4% of the market. I wonder if Chrome will be able to hold on to that top spot of if IE will come back with the forced update of older browsers starting soon. It's interesting that in the last few months I left Firefox for Chrome after some horrible Firefox updates left the browser unstable and with issues running some content. I guess I wasn’t the only one not liking Firefox.
