Sony launched the PS Vita last weekend in Japan. According to Japanese Famitsu Sony sold 321,407 units in the first two days on sale. If true, this number is twice that of what the Sony PSP sold at launch. As mentioned many times before I have severe doubts that the PS Vita will be successful. Japan is a different market, but in the United States and Europe the smartphone is the new portable game console. Only real hard-core gamers will fall for the most powerful portable game console.
The Sony PS Vita launch is overshadowed by system issues though. Sony has already issued an apology to the first PS Vita customers. Apparently the PS Vita is full of bugs according to user reports. This is the advantage of having to wait for a new gadget to launch state side. The Sony PS Vita will launch in February here. By then Sony will have fixed all the bugs.
