We have been hearing rumors of a coming Apple TV or iTV that is an actual TV set not a set-top box like the original AppleTV was. Last time we heard that the AppleTV would be offered in 32-inch and 55-inch sizes. A new rumor floating around today from DigiTimes claims that the first sizes will be 32-inch and 37-inch.
The rumor also claims that the suppliers that will be building the TV are stocking up on components to start getting ready for building the sets in Q1 2012. The iTVs are said to be coming in Q2 or Q3 2012. We have no hard details on what the TV will be like, but presumably, it will have features similar to the AppleTV only integrated into an Apple HDTV.
Apple is also still said to be getting a new generation AppleTV set-top box ready. I would assume that the box will do all that the TV would only in a package for folks that don’t want a new TV set. Sharp is said to be making the panels for the TVs with Samsung making the processors.
