Rumors have been making the rounds that Acer was looking to get out of the smartphone and tablet market. So far, Acer has made no real impact in either the Android tablet or smartphone market. However, it seems that Acer sees big profits to be made in these markets.

Acer's founder Stan Shin has said that the company is not exiting the tablet and smartphone market. Acer is getting ready to shed 2/3 of its product line moving into 2012. Apparently, some of that stuff it cuts loose will be replaced.

Acer also has no plans to shed workers in either the tablet or smartphone categories. If Acer wants to stay in the smartphone and tablet market it needs to have a product that is well designed and performs well or it will never do well.
