One of the best hints that a update or refresh is coming to an Apple product is when the product ship dates start to get longer out of the blue. If the machines were previously shipping with no delay and all the sudden there is a week or more delay, you can bet a new refresh is coming.
This is exactly what has happened on the Mac Pro desktop computers, which are definitely in need of an update. With the ship times getting longer and the fact that the Intel Sandy Bridge E Xeon processors are set to launch soon, it isn’t hard to figure that those processors might find their way into the Mac Pro.
Other rumored hardware updates include the AMD line of Tahiti video cards. Those cards have been showing up in some dev builds for the Mac OS X 10.7.3 reports MacRumors. Another important question needs to be asked though, will the line continue at all. Apple has reportedly been considering the future of the Pro line. The update may be a discontinuation of the line.
