Velocity Micro has been quiet for a long time, this is the first new announcement I have heard for the computer firm in a long time. The company is unveiling some new gear ahead of CES 2012. One of the new products is the shine Projector.
This little projector is tiny at about 4-inches on its longest side and it weighs 9-ounces. The projector is bright for a pico offering with 300 lumens of light output. It supports a native resolution of 1280 x 768 meaning it will throw 720p images. The projector has a .45-inch TI DLP imaging chip with SCRAM optical engine technology.
The projector has a 1.4:1 throw ratio to show a large image close to the projection surface. It also has a HDMI into to get input from all sorts of components. The projector is green needing 23W to operate in full power mode. The little gadget will sell for under $400.
