Ion is the company behind the slick iCade that Think Geek sells and the arcade gaming chassis is very cool. The company has come out with a smaller and easier to use version that has no cabinet around it. The new version is the controller only and is called the iCade Core.
The new device was unveiled at CES 2012 and is really cool. It supports the devices, lets you play retro games with a big joystick, and buttons just like the original iCade. The iPhone charge cord can be passed through a slot to allow you to charge the device while you play.
It supports the Atari classics game app with over 200 games in all that are supported. The device will hit retailers at some point this year. An exact launch date and price aren’t known. The device will cost less than the original iCade though.
