Hints appear pointing at Apple readying a new Apple TV.
The Apple TV is possibly ripe for an update. According to 9to5Mac BestBuy is out of stock and also its internal ordering system is marking the Apple TV as unavailable. The Best Buy online store is not shipping the Apple TV anymore, you would need to pick it up. Only some stores still have stock. Amazon also has no Apple TV stock left.
9to5Mac also reports that in the iOS 5.1 beta release a string identifying the new 2012 Apple TV has been spotted. The codenames for the new Apple TV are AppleTV 3,1 and J33.
One thing that is known so far is that the 2012 Apple TV will likely support Bluetooth 4.0. Will it have apps? I am pretty sure it will. It will also likely supportfull HD (1080p).
For me personally, a new Apple TV now would be great timing. I just thought about it over the weekend to get a second Apple TV. The iTunes rental movie library is now good enough to replace going to the DVD rental machine. So I will put one Apple TV in the living room and one in my man cave.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
