BBC News has announced that it has been the target of a cyber attack believed to be perpetrated by Iran. According to the director general Mark Thompson, Internet attack was conducted at the same time efforts to jam satellites feeds going into Iran were conducted. The same day of the attack, he says that automated phone calls attempted to jam the BBC Persia phone lines in London.
The attack succeeded in making some parts of the BBC unable to access e-mail and other Internet services on March 1. There are some indications that the attack and the inability to access e-mail and Internet could've been the result of a distributed DOS attack.
