I don't know where you live, but in my area, $60,000 is a very nice yearly income. In the world of Megaupload CEO Kim Dotcom $60,000 is what he needs to get by for a month. Courts have agreed to give Dotcom $60,000 each month to cover expenses. The judge said that $20,000 of that monthly income would come from interest drawn on $10 million worth of government bonds.
The second $40,000 monthly payment will come from a bank account Dotcom owns that was seized when he was arrested that has about $300,000 sitting in it. The courts also allowed Dotcom access to a 2011 Mercedes-Benz that he owns. It's hard to imagine needing $60,000 each month just to get by, the rent on the mansion where Dotcom was arrested is said to be about $1 million each year.
