Amazon to release 2-4 new Tablets in 2012

Amazon has been expected to release a new 10.1-inch Kindle Fire to join the currently available 7-inch Kindle Fire. Digitimes reports today that Amazon is at least launching two new tablets in 2012, maybe even four.

The 10.1-inch Kindle Fire is expected in July. Amazon is apparently also considering releasing an 8.9-inch tablet and is supposed to look into releasing a new 7-inch Kindle Fire at an even lower price. Digitimes mentions $169.

Amazon has not revealed any Kindle Fire sales numbers. Digitimes' source estimates that Amazon sold 5-6 million Kindle Fire in 2011 and is expected to sell 20 million tablets in 2012.
