The Pebble smartphone companion watch just broke the funding record on kickstarter and is now at $3,39 million from 23,710 backers. The initial goal was just $100,000.

The guys behind the Pebble have already made smart watches and that seems to be a big factor for backers that there is a track record of making a working product.
The Pebble watch can be customized with apps and connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth. There is already a developer SDK to create apps for the Pebble. The apps are the really cool aspect of Pebble.
Pebble runs on an ARM CPU and the battery lasts for 7 days.
