Microsoft posts Record Q3 Revenue ahead of Windows 8

Microsoft generated 6% more revenue in their Q3 compared to the same period last year.

Microsoft released their Q3 2012 financials and they look good. This is surprising with the big next Windows release looming. Indeed Windows sales are down, but the enterprise related software sales have been strong. I assume though, that the current quarter will not be that shiny. Microsoft's revenue reached $17.41 billion for the quarter, which is a 6% increase compared to the same period last year.

“We’re driving toward exciting launches across the entire company, while delivering strong financial results,” said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer at Microsoft. “With the upcoming release of new Windows 8 PCs and tablets, the next version of Office, and a wide array of products and services for the enterprise and consumers, we will be delivering exceptional value to all our customers in the year ahead.”
