Microsoft is supposed to introduce subsidized gaming console sales model starting next week. As Microsoft already requires a Xbox Live Pass to use the online service it is straight forward for them to offer a subsidized console deal with a subscription commitment. The Verge reports that Microsoft is releasing next week a $99 Xbox 360 with 4GB and Kinect with a $15 monthly fee including Xbox Live Gold and possibly other content services.
The Xbox 360 subscription deal comes ahead of the launch of the new Microsoft Music service. Microsoft could make the new music service part of this new Xbox 360 package.
I do believe that this new way of selling the Xbox 360 will give the Xbox another big sales push. Well done Microsoft, if indeed this report is true. There is no official announcement yet from Microsoft.
