Facebook Organ Donation Tool Greatly Increases Donor Registration
Yesterday Facebook rolled out a new tool for members to use that allows them to know if they are organ donors. This tool was being teased with the exclusive from ABC News. People on organ donor lists around the country often die before receiving life-saving organs because people either don't register to be donors or family members aren't aware that loved ones want to be donors.
The Facebook tool also allows people that want to be donors to register directly with their states donor agencies. Apparently, the tool has worked out pretty well with some state registries reporting as much is a 700% increase in donor registrations compared to the norm.
