New camera gets a giant sensor
Sony has announced its latest digital camera in the Cyber-shot range. The new camera is called the RX100 and features one of the largest sensors ever be put in a camera of its size. The camera uses a new Sony designed sensor with four times the area of other 1/2.3 sensors in point-and-shoot cameras. The new Sony sensor is a one-inch type and the camera uses a Carl Zeiss lens to take advantage of the extra sensor area.
The camera features a 20.2 effective megapixel resolution 3.6 times optical zoom, and a wide F1 .8 maximum aperture. The camera supports up to ISO 25,600 using multiframe noise reduction and promises high-quality images in lowlight conditions. The camera can shoot bursts set up to 10 frames per second in full resolution. The camera set to ship in July for $650.
