Microsoft is unveiled own-branded tablets on Monday. The 10.6-inch tablets will launch this fall. The Windows 8 RT based model is first and is according to Digitimes priced at least $599. The Intel based Windows 8 Pro model is supposed to sell for at least $799.
Microsoft is also said to outsource the assembly of the Microsoft Surface tablets to Pegatron. There is no word yet on the volume of Surface tablets.
$599 is $100 more than the entry-level Apple iPad, which would be a problem.
