Sony NSZ-GS7 Set Top Box Runs Google TV Software

Sony has a new set top box packing Google TV software that will go on sale or pre-order in the US and in the UK soon called the NSZ-GS7. The box will land in Europe this summer and can be pre-ordered now. Pre-orders will cost you about $200 here in the United States and is expected to hit stores July 22. Other countries will get the set-top box later this year.

The set-top box will allow users to stream all sorts of content to their existing TV without having to upgrade to a new smart TV. Content will be available from local sources depending on the country as well as streaming video sources such as YouTube and presumably Netflix. The set will also support Google Play apps. The box is an interesting dual sided remote control with the touchpad for cursor control on one side the keyboard on the other side for running searches, and typing e-mails and social network updates.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
