The iPad minirumors are floating around already since a several months. Today on July 4th, Bloomberg reports that a smaller, cheaper iPad will come by year-end according to two people with knowledge of the plans.
The new iPad mini would have a screen-size that is between 7 and 8 inches. We carried several times reports that talk about a 7.85-inch screen. Just the other day we carried a rumor from China that said that there is a new iPad coming this summer with IGZO display. I already pointed out then that the rumor might be about the smaller iPad.
It is nothing new for Apple to release smaller and cheaper models of a product category. Just look at the iPod. What never came was an iPhone mini, but the market is also not going in that direction. Smartphones are actually getting bigger right now.
In the tablet market the iPad competitors only get a foothold right now with the sub-$200 7-inch tablets. It is clear that Apple will need to stop that with a smaller and cheaper iPad.

Kendall Jenner, and the complicated life she leads with friends, fans and family, prove one thing. And that is that she knows how to hang in there amidst the media hype and mass publicity.
About the Geek Mind
The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
