Raspbian OS in Development for Raspberry Pi

If you already own or plan to purchase one of the small and cheap Raspberry Pi mini computers, you might be looking for an operating system for the device that will give you the best speed possible. A new operating system is under development right now with several unofficial prerelease builds available for download called Raspbian.

This operating system is based on Debian Linux with added support for "hard float" code allowing operating system to take advantage of the hardware inside the $35 mini computer. That hard float code means that software using floating-point operations should run much quicker using this operating system than others available for the Raspberry Pi.
