The Olympics 2012 will officially start today in London with the Opening Ceremony. NBC is providing the exclusive Olympics 2012 coverage in the United States. Twitter and NBC partnered to create an event page for the 2012 Olympics on Twitter.
Twitter Event pages are a new thing. Twitter did set one up for NASCAR and the 2012 Euro so far.
The #Olympics Twitter Event page will highlight Tweets from athletes, coaches, teams, families, NBC personalities, fans, and many other Olympic insiders. When those nail-biting, riveting, and emotional moments unfold, you’ll see and hear directly from all of those who are closest to the action.
The #Olympics event page on Twitter is only accessible from the US. This is of course very stupid. You still see the hashtag tweets, but not the full blown event page when accessing from Europe or anywhere else.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
