The rumored launch of the next generation iPhone is September 12. That rumored launch date is only a few weeks away and if you're sure the device is coming anyway get rid of your existing iPhone 4S, this may be the time to do it. Apples Reuse and Recycling program is offering as much as $345 on trade for your current 64 GB iPhone 4S.
The device has to be in perfect condition and you have to ship it back with the power cord to get that much money. Versions of the iPhone with less storage and any damage will be worth less. The money comes back to you in the form of a gift certificate for the Apple store.
