HP has delivered a new open-source version of the webOS mobile operating system. This operating system was first launched by Palm and failed before HP purchased it. HP was unable to do anything meaningful with the operating system and it was discontinued again.
An open-source version of the operating system launched recently with 54 webOS components available as open source software. Open source version has over 450,000 lines of code released under the Apache 2.0 license agreement. The software is available as a desktop build and an OpenEmbedded build.
