I just installed Geekbench 2 on my iPhone 5 and it showed a clock speed of 1.10Ghz (see photo above). The first Geekbench we saw before the official launch had 1.02Ghz. Now more reports come in that show different A6 CPU clockspeeds. Speeds seen vary from 550Mhz to 1.3Ghz. With dynamic clocking Apple can save power and offer increased performance when needed. Another little thing that helps make the iPhone 5 the fastest smartphone on the market.
It has also been discovered that Apple went the extra mile and laid out the A6 Core by hand. This can help efficiency and speed compared to an automated process.
