Microsoft announces Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Microsoft Surface Launch Events

Microsoft will release Windows 8 on October 26. A day before Microsoft will host launch events around the world.

According to the Windows Team Blog there are over 800 unique systems certified for Windows 8 and Windows RT. So expect a massive onslaught this fall of Windows 8 laptops and tablets. Most of them are likely just Windows 7 refreshers, but there are also lots of new hybrid designs and of course finally Windows tablets.

Speaking of tablets. Microsoft will release the Microsoft Surface tablets on Midnight of October 26 according to The Verge. I am not sure if anybody will line up at midnight for it though. Heck, we still do not even know the price of these things.

Windows Phone 8 gets its own launch event on October 29 to be held in San Francisco says The Verge. The new Windows Phone 8 smartphones are all set to go on sale in November.

About the Geek Mind

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
