Apple is making their own iPhone and iPad CPUs. It is not far fetched to think about making CPUs for MacBooks and iMacs. Of course Intel does not like this idea.

Apple is using Intel CPUs for their laptop and desktop computer lines. The iPad and the iPhone use Apple's own Ax CPUs. They are ARM based, but homegrown inside Apple. Bloomberg reports that Apple is exploring to switch from Intel and use its own CPUs in the future. A switch is far from happening and might not happen after all. Apple i seen to keep its options open with the research into desktop and laptop CPUs.

Apple switch from Motorola PowerPC CPUs to Intel CPUs in 2006. It was a great partnership so far. Apple computers sell better than ever.
