Pre-Black Friday HDTV Deals

Last year's big Black Friday TV deal was a 42-inch Sharp LCD HDTV at Best Buy for $200. It drew crowds - not only to stores but also to BestBuy.com's review section to post negative reviews, even though the model wasn't on the market yet for purchase.

For those not willing to brave the doorbuster sale lines last year, there were a slew of quieter but still solid deals on large HDTVs online. Forty-inch sets were particular popular at the $300 price point, striking a size and price compromise between the more diminutive 32-inch sets and behemoths like the 73-inch DLP sets from Mitsubishi.

This year, deals on 40-inch sets are in full effect, but as with age, we're betting 50 is the new 40. Even pre-Black Friday, we've already seen great deals on 50-inch plasmas, LCDs, and LEDs - deals you don't have to brave long lines and dropping temperatures to get.

LG 50PA5500 50-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV — $549.99 at Dell Home. Cheapest ever by $50. Next best is $599 at Amazon.

Toshiba 50L2200U 50-inch 1080p LED HDTV — $499.99 at TigerDirect. Cheapest ever by $130. Next best is $652 at B&H Photo.

Seiki SC501TS 50-inch 1080p LCD HDTV — $369.99 at TigerDirect. Next best is $550 at Sears.

Or if you're in the mood for something more expansive, we've seen deals on the largest of the large, often at the lowest prices we've seen by over $100.

Mitsubishi WD-92742 92-inch 1080p 3D DLP Home Cinema HDTV — $2,419 at NewEgg. Cheapest ever by $181. Next best is $2,800 at Amazon.

Panasonic TC-P60U50 60-inch Plasma HDTV — $798 at Amazon. Cheapest ever by $175. Next best is $898 at Walmart.

LG 55LS4600 55-inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV — $898 at Amazon. Cheapest ever by $52. Next best is $999 at Adorama.

Finally, deals on smaller sets are still coming in at lower prices than last year.

Hisense F42K20E 42-inch 1080p LED HDTV — $279.99 plus $5 shipping at Woot. List is $430.

Sceptre X408BV-FHD 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV — $269.98 at Amazon. Cheapest ever by $10. Next best is $300 at NewEgg.
