RIM may be taking their first steps into the tablet arena. BBLeaks reports that one of their contacts has confirmed that a BlackBerry tablet is in the works. This device is said to be smaller and thinner than the iPad, and is currently identified under the codename 'BlackPad'.
The BlackPad will sport full BlackBerry OS compatibility and functionality and will not be launching until 2011. Rumors like this should always be taken with a grain of salt, but this one has a ring of truth to it. BBLeaks has been reliable in the past and, quite frankly, a BlackBerry tablet makes sense.
Apple has proven that a big, juicy market exists for tablet computers. If RIM can do what they do best and create an enterprise-optimized tablet, they have a real chance to corner that market above even Apple. RIM knows what corporate buyers want.

The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
