Now that the iPhone 4 is already losing its newness factor the focus is back on new upcoming Apple products. Last fall we were surprised by Apple not unveiling an iPod touch with camera.
Now everyone expects to see an iPod touch with camera in 2010. It did not happen in Spring as one rumor suggested at the end of last year.
In May an iPod touch with camera (on the backside) appeared in Vietnam.
ElectricPig (via 9 to 5 Mac) picked up some iPod touch 2010 rumors at a presentation of UK based retailer John Lewis.
According to them the new iPod touch would have two cameras like the iPhone 4 and support FaceTime video conferencing. Additionally the new iPod touch would pack an accelerometer and gyroscope. The backside camera would have 5MP and record HD video like the iPhone 4.
It is not that far fetched that the new iPod touch would support FaceTime. On the other hand I see much more value of FaceTime on 3G or 4G networks. I also think Apple wants to push even more into gaming. I think seeing the iPod touch as an iPhone without 3G connectivity is too simplistic as product positioning.
