Yahoo carries a AP story about the 6th Robo-One Contest in Japan.
About 90 robots were competing. Those robots are built and programmed by amateur robot fans amateurs from across Japan and South Korea.

I just ordered my RoboSapien to see what this one can do first hand. Amazon sells it for $99.99, but there are actually several stores selling the toy robot for $89.99 and lower.
