Update 09/01/04: The Tungsten T5 Story is a Hoax. Ignore Story below or just read it for fun.
1src, a PalmOS News Site, reports about rumors of upcoming Palm One PDAs. The information is derived from postings in the 1src discussion board.
The first one that will be released is the Tungsten|T5. It will come with Cobalt, 128MB RAM, HiRes+, bluetooth, WiFi, and a 520MHz PXA270 chip. The slider will be gone, and the D-pad will be Tungsten|C-styled. The battery is good enough to survive a workday. Expect it in November.
The second model is the Tungsten|E2. It won't be released before April 2005, and surely won't have a HiRes+ screen. It will however run OS6, have 64MB RAM, and the same processor as the
More details and photos on 1src.

An OS6 upgrade will be available for the Tungsten|C and
Tungsten|T3 a month after the release of the Tungsten|T5. The Tungsten|C will
still be sold with OS5, but that will change as soon as the current model is out
of stock.
The price of the T5 will be similar to the T3: around $399.
The information has been acquired from somebody who had it 'first-hand'.
The Tungsten T5 is 0.50in shorter than a T3 slid open. The other dimensions are
similar, so it's about 4.7x3.0x0.66in. It's slightly heavier, but not a lot.
There are some doubts about the amount of SD-slots. I can confirm it only has 1
slot. But as it already has built-in bluetooth and WiFi (802.11b), why would we
need an additional slot? It has a universal connecter.
It's exactly the same one found in the Cobalt simulator (palmsource.com). It
still lacks the features of the Tungsten|T3 calendar application (the name is
also 'Date Book' instead of 'Calendar'). The Contacts application already seemed
the new one. It supported the birthday field, but did not have the opportunity
to attach pictures to contacts (that's possible with the Zire 72).
There is a new 'Media' application. Its version is 6.0p1, which should mean palm
One has made some changes to it.
There is a microphone and voice memo.
The status bar looks similar to the t3 instead of the one in the cobalt
simulator. The battery however doesn't display a full-screen area, but just a
smaller part. In this smaller part there are buttons to an extra popup screen
for more settings. These buttons can also be found on the virtual graffiti area.
