Microsoft launched a preview site of its Apple iTunes competitor music download store. MSN has licensed more than 1 million
tracks from more than 3,000 major and independent music labels. More
than 500,000 tracks are available in today's preview release of MSN
Music, and new tracks will be added every week.
MSN Music allows people to download music for 99 cents per song, same price as at Apple iTunes.
Microsoft also launched the new Windows Media® Player 10 (still in technical beta). The WMP 10 also rips in MP3 music format, not just WMA.
More details in Press-Release on Yahoo and on the MSN Music Store site.
Walther Mossberg reviewed already the MSN Music Store.
