News of Sony changing its digital music format strategy spreads.
The major issue with most of the new music players Sony announced recently (Pocket VAIO, NW-HD1) is their lack of MP3 and OGG or WMA format support. They only supports the Sony ATRAC format. Only the new Sony HMP-A1 Portable Video Player supports MP3.
Sony is reportely planning to release new Flash based Music Players with MP3 and ATRAC support still this year. Also firmware upgrades for existing players seem possible. Read more Sony coverage on CNN and CNET.
The Sony HMP-A1 is only available in Japan. AudioCubes sells it internationally for $699.
