Philippe Starck and Puma Shoes developed a shoe and boot line together. Starck recently designed the STARCK Microsoft Mouse and also designed nice wrist watches for fossil, besides tons of kitchen and other stuff.
When I first saw the Starck boots in a fashion magazine, I thought I have to have a pair of them. The Philippe Starck Superhigh with orange or beig heel would be ideal to get through the cold season in Munich with style.
Yesterday I finally found and tried them in the Puma Store in Munich.
The boot just looks ultra-cool and futuristic, just what I like. The rubber (molded T.P.U.) heel and the sole look like they are in one piece. The front and upper area is leather. The Philippe Starck cross featured on the side. The shoe and boots have a EVA midsole. Overall the shoes and boots are very lightweight.
Now comes the big dissapointment: The Philippe Starck Superhigh boot is not working for me. It has zero support. When I walked with them my feet moved up and down in the boot about 5cm. It felt like I would wear way to big rubber boots. I usually have no problems with the fit of shoes or boots. For 220 Euros I would expect a comfortable boot. I did not try the shoes, as the do not appeal to me. Please Email me if the Philippe Starck Superhigh boot fits you.
Enjoy though the funny flash web site of Starck Puma. You can play with the human turned monkey (see below) wearing Starck boots. You can also print out a monkey mask, not sure what the connection is.
