Samsung announces that they developed a 16:9 4 inch TFT display especially for Portable media devices.

Samsung says that research showed that a 4" display is ideal, because the device than still fits into a pocket and the screen is big enough. Most current models feature a 4:3 3.5" screen-size like the iRiver PMP 120. On the other hand their is the MobiNote DVX-POD 7010 portable media player with a 7 inch screen.
Samsung made some other improvements to the display that benefit PMPs like increased brightness (180cd/㎡ ). Samsung says they want to be the leader in mobile LCD displays by 2006. More details in Samsung Press-Release.
