AppleInsider reports based on reliable sources that Apple will introduce a new iPod mini early 2005 with 5GB hard-drive.
5GB storage are the standard with the new released players, like Creative Zen Micro, Rio Carbon or Dell Pocket DJ. So the iPod mini besides battery life also lacks storage compared to the new mini hard-drive mp3 player.

There is another rumor that Apple will launch a iPod Satellite Radio model. Delphi sells the XM2GO portable XM Satellite Radio, so it could also be an nice option for Apple. More details on MP3Newswire (via Engadget).
