Ken reviews the Xenofreaks I Love PIX multi-functional LED display from Korea.  Ken already reviewed the newer  PIX Sports LED gadget. The I Love PIX LED gadget can be connected to a PC to program patterns, a feature the cheaper PIX Sports does not have.

The XenoFreaks I Love PIX is only available on the XenoFreaks Korean Store.
Xenofreaks I love PIX review

Overview
I already tested and reviewed the PIX multi-function sports LED device from Xenofreaks, Inc.  While that was a fun product, the “I Love Pix” interactive visual LED medallion is a treat as well and provides much more functionality as you can interact and program it via your computer.  The younger generation loves technology and this unit delivers in so many ways.  Communications take on a whole new meaning for children and teenagers today, and what a way to “talk” than to “show” what they are feeling, meaning and saying in a “mod” and unique way.  What can the PIX do you say? How about providing you with an Infrared device and USB 2.0 cable for complete control of content in the LED readout of the medallion.  Load the included software in seconds; plug in the supplied USB cable and begin the creation of your own communication.  It even comes preloaded with a whole host of text messages, characters, designs (hearts, arrows, etc.), which are even animated.  Choose from those included or invent your own utilizing the intuitive software.  Use your imagination, finish and transfer those ideas straight to the PIX.  It even can be ordered in different LED colors (red, blue and others).  The 60s and 70s gave us inanimate objects to convey what they felt, wanted to convey or believed themselves to be.  Technology has advanced for the Gen X crowd and they love it.  It’s provided another means to impart themselves on society and being able to “cool” doing so.

The PIX comes complete with a cylindrical hard, durable case to encase the medallion along with a soft velvet “purse” to keep it scratch free.  The included necklace surpasses those found with MP3 players and even has a solid flexible silver coil within coated plastic and a sliding clasp to adjust to the user’s needs.  The girls also love this fashionable device as a true jewelry fashion accessory that looks very good around their necks.  For the guys, use the armband included and be tough yet able to express yourself at the same time.  In addition to communicating to others, it searches for icon matches on other PIX devices and the wearers can infrared one another with images, icons or messages. How about eliminating the need for online dating services? You only need to be within range of each other to make your own matches based upon your identical expressions.  It certainly “breaks the ice”.  Take it to parties, dances, school communications, and reminders, soothe those hectic days with pleasing images and animations.  The two-inch, 177 high LED readout in a 15 X 15 matrix with a weight of only 59g is packed with imagination and enjoyment for every individual.  The two AAA batteries inside last for approximately four days.  Remember, you can recharge alkaline batteries when replacing by using an alkaline charger available online at many retail locations.

I would love to see this unit with a magnet included for use on nightstands, in cars and on other metallic surfaces.  I used Velcro and my own magnets for this purpose and it worked well.  Future considerations should include an OLED display for a wider array of characters, icons, animations, etc.  Although light, the weight could be reduced by utilizing lithium batteries or solar panels.  USB interoperability would enable recharging abilities too.  Two buttons on this device make it quite easy to control and change between modes of operations.  The instructions should be rewritten in plain English as the fragmented English translation provided led to some confusion.  Luckily, the included pictures provide a definitive guide to understand and complete all required functions, but the software instructions must also be more clearly written to fully utilize creation of icons, text, animations, etc.

Conclusion
In a world full of expressionism, the PIX seeks to capitalize and does so very well.  Price for the unit is approximately $100 and visiting www.xenofreaks.com will provide you with all the information you need on this product and ordering.  Express yourself today with PIX.
