Samsung is close to finishing up development of the new DDR3 memory standard. The operation speed of DDR3 is twice as fast as DDR2 and four times as fast as regular DDR. In addition, the memory prototype is the first to run on just 1.5 volts. Faster, and less of a drain on batteries? Excellent. Look for this to hit the market in early 2006.
More details in Samsung Press-Release.
